Why Is my Upstairs Hotter Than Downstairs?
This is extremely common in multi-level Utah homes.
Heat naturally rises, and most homes have airflow limitations that make it difficult to cool upper floors evenly during peak summer heat.
A bigger system is not always the answer. In fact, oversized equipment often creates more comfort problems because the system cools too quickly without running long enough to move and balance air properly.
If we had a penny for every oversized system we’ve seen installed because someone thought “bigger = better,” we could probably retire. 😄
In many cases, comfort improvements come from:
- Airflow balancing
- Duct modifications
- Return air improvements
- Insulation/heat load considerations
- Proper equipment sizing
Not just replacing equipment.
